The secret art of inviting happiness…

JoyWant to fast forward your spiritual development and create more joy?

Try practicing the 5 Reiki principles.  Repeat them morning and night, and all throughout the day as you remember.

  1. Just for today, I will give thanks for my many blessings.  Take time every day to be grateful for the blessings in your life.
  1. Just for today, I will not worry.  Worry takes your mind into the future or into the past, but the present is where the spirit abides.
  1. Just for today, I will not anger.  Anger comes from judgment.  We cannot possibly know all aspects to everything that happens, so with our limited perception we cannot judge rightly.  Letting go of past anger that has accumulated in the energy field is a great healing release.  Use Reiki to help process anger daily.
  1. Just for today I will do my work honoustly, with appreciation.  If not for purpose in life our spirits would have nothing to strive for.  What ever you do, know in your heart you are doing it for the evolution of the human spirit.
  1. Just for today, I will be kind to my neighbour and every living thing.  We are one.  There is nothing that is not you.  We all know that what we put out there returns to you.  Send out waves of kindness and see what comes back.

Little by little these principles will seep into your consciousness.  Then what happens is, the next time you are about to respond with anger, you suddenly remember, “oh yeah, just for today I am not going to get angry.”  This may or may not be enough to stop the anger episode, but it brings it into your consciousness, which is a huge step.  Becoming consciousness is the first step in healing.

The Reiki principles will uplift your thinking, dissolve stress, anxiety, anger, worry, and a negative mind set.  Do you have positive affirmations like the Reiki Principles?  Perhaps you’ve made your own?  Please share your experience in the comments section below.

  1. This post really spoke to me! I’m beginning to understand that anger and worry only lead to resentment. Sure you may have a “right ” to feel angry due to injustice or hurt, but you are the only one that ends up hurting and it can become all-consuming. You can become incapacitated in all areas of your life. I could see how repeating these principles would help to re-program your thoughts so to speak, so you could move on to better things. Thanks, Christina

  2. I agree – people do have a “right” to be angry, and it’s when it becomes all consuming that it gets to be a health concern. I actually think the principle should be “Just for today, I will not let the sun go down on my anger.” This allows for expression, but asks us not to dwell on things.
Thanks Shelley. I really appreciate the honoust reflection.
    Peace, Christina

    • Hi Cheryl,
I usually assign the principles for Reiki homework, and I’m always pleasantly surprised when the practitioners return after a week of repeating them – it makes a tremendous impact after only the 1 week.
      Blessings for a wonderful Sunday!
      Christina
