Calling all Seekers!

Have you made a conscious decision to move through life with the intent of discovering who you truly are, and why you are here? If so, then you have answered the call to embark on the spiritual journey – a journey inward to deeper levels of awareness of yourself, of others, and of God.

The Call

Often the call to an awakened life comes in the form of a catalyst, a point in a person’s life when something dramatically changes: a death or divorce or some form of suffering that gets us questioning ourselves and what our purpose is.

For others it’s a feeling of being lost and disoriented… there’s a hunger for something more, an invisible pull calling for attention.calling all seekers

Yet many people experience an awakening of sorts – an article that they read peaks their curiosity, or a spiritual experience jars them out of complacency, and gets them questioning themselves and their purpose.

Maybe this is your wake up call.

My wake- up call

Many times we skim along the surface of life, never looking for the deeper meaning, never questioning our experiences … our existence, but sooner or later every woman comes up against some difficult questions and when that happens, carving out a spiritual path is a natural course of progression.

I first embarked on the spiritual journey because I could not find the depth of experience that I sought in my relationships, in my work, or even in my spirit. My life felt void of meaning, yet I knew there must have been something more than what I was experiencing.

This wondering was enough to begin seeking and attracting the education, books, people, information and experiences that would deepen my life, and as I found new meaning – I began enjoying life more, and attracting the people and experiences I needed to grow in my relationship with God.

Answer the call

When you answer the call to awaken spiritually it can be difficult to know how to respond. Here are some ideas to increase tap into your spiritual self, and discover true meaning:

Start with a question like: Who am I? Some people never open that up to the question. They end up accepting the labels they have been given by others without inquiring who they are beyond those labels.

On the spiritual journey you learn to stop defining yourself and your purpose in life in terms of personal, societal, and even religious beliefs and expectations, and you open yourself up to the truth about who you are, which is actually less about defining and more about being.

Start seeking clarity in this area and be open to how God responds. People find meaning in street signs, in songs, in numbers, in coincidences, and in many other ways simply by being open.

Carve out time for silence: This could mean scheduling time daily for meditation, prayer, bible study, reflection, or journaling. In this we are able to become more open to the awareness of God’s presence.

Practice gratitude: Spend a little time each day appreciating the people and blessings in your life. Many people find it useful to pray or journal about the blessings in their life. Being grateful actually attracts more of the same experiences into your reality.

Spend time around other seekers: The spiritual journey is just as much a community experience as it is a personal one. Take a workshop, join a church or another group of spiritual seekers, or get in touch with a Spiritual Director. Sharing the spiritual life with other like-minded people validates your experiences and it keeps you accountable to your values and goals.

Take a deep breath in and then let it go: As you do consciously release all of the wanting, struggling, and striving and just be.

 Peace and Blessings

You are on a journey of self-discovery that will bring you through life with more insight, and a heightened sense of God’s presence. Enjoy every moment of it, and remember that we journey together to a place where we already are in truth, a place of belonging and of meaning and purpose.
